Control Sector at NYFW 2017
One of my favorite shows at NYFW was definitely Control Sector. At first glance it really wasn't clear what kind of show it would turn out to be, but there was no disappointment whatsoever. The show began with a very cool lighting display that broadcasted the name of the label/designer and live DJ's playing a set!
It is much more of the norm for shows to broadcast music recordings or mixes, so it was quite refreshing to actually see tunes being played live on the wider stage. Having DJ's on set lent a down to earth, accessible feeling to the show. The Control Sector showcase felt like it was a good time had by all involved, thus the audience felt relaxed and better able to take everything in.
One of the main reasons the Control Sector collection resonated with me was due to the great application toward athleisure. The clothing line is so wearable! This wasn't one of those shows where it's more theatrical in theory, then you may find one piece that can be worn during everyday life. Control Sector showed a broad have of accessible clothes; the types of gear you go and buy and actually wear. Pieces had a cool and comfy vibe and appeared to float on the models bodies. Perf for a day of shopping and kicking back hanging out with the besties.
Dress like what Control Sector offers can also be worn to go brunching, and just about anywhere. That's the beauty of the line! I also really enjoyed the laidback chic of the oxford pumps on display as the models strutted down the runway. Talk about relatable! Everyone either wore or wanted those! Oxfords torally encompassed the doable quality of this show. Top off the looks with cool blues and baseball caps and you have classic athleisure!Â
Ps the creators also had natural curly girls tearing up the runway!Â
