Three Years In the Making: Overhauling My Hygiene Collection

For the past three years, I have been slowly working on overhauling my hygiene collection, and it has turned into a much bigger process than I ever expected. What started as wanting to switch a few products has grown into something I have put a lot of time, thought, and effort into. I have spent countless hours researching products, comparing ingredients, trying new things, and figuring out what is actually worth keeping in my routine.

One thing I have learned throughout this process is that finding the right products takes time. Just because something works well for one person does not mean it will work the same way for me. I have had products that I absolutely loved, products that were not worth the hype, and products that I thought would become permanent staples but ended up not working out. Every experience has helped me narrow down what I want in my collection.

I have also become much more intentional about what I buy. Instead of picking something up just because it smells good or everyone seems to love it, I want to know more about the product itself. I pay closer attention to ingredients, performance, scent, how products work together, and whether they are actually worth the money. I want my collection to feel well thought out rather than filled with products I bought on impulse.

Another big part of this overhaul has been realizing that it is okay for my preferences to change. Something I loved a year ago might not be something I reach for anymore. My standards have changed, my interests have grown, and I have discovered products and brands I probably would not have considered when I first started. I think that is one of the best parts of the process because I am not just buying products anymore. I am learning what works for me.

Of course, overhauling an entire hygiene collection is not something that happens overnight, especially when you are trying to be mindful of what you spend. I have been working through products, replacing things as needed, testing new options, and making changes little by little. There is no reason to throw everything away and start from scratch when I can take my time and make better decisions along the way.

After more than three years, I can honestly say that my collection has come a long way, but I am still working on it. There are always new products to discover, old favorites to revisit, and things I want to improve. I do not expect my collection to ever be completely finished because my needs and preferences will continue to evolve.

What matters most to me is that I am building a collection I genuinely enjoy using. I want products that make me feel clean, fresh, and confident, and I want to feel good about the things I choose to spend my money on. It has taken years to get to this point, and I know I still have more to learn, but that is part of what makes the process enjoyable.

Three years later, this is still a work in progress, and I would not have it any other way.
